Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter
This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day.

Bus Trip
Yesterday was a travel day for Zane and I. We traveled 3 1/2 hours to Dillard, GA to eat lunch. It wasn't just lunch, it was a social and culinary experience. The table set for 14 people was covered from one end to the other with vegetables and meat. There were about 4 choices of meat and numbers of varied vegetables. I only ate one plate full but my plate was large and very full. The fried okra was out of this world delicious. I passed on the corn on the cob because I forgot to bring toothpicks and floss. Dessert was blackberry cobbler topped with ice cream. The food was wonderful and satisfying but the shared love and conversation was priceless.
We rode one of the church buses and after being on the road for an hour we found the air conditioning was malfunctioning. The temperature was in the 90's but I think God was just reminding us of how we should appreciate the blessing of air conditioning, and it worked. Most of us on the bus remember what that was like but I don't think any of us want to return to those days.

Church today
The reason I attend church is to worship the God of my life and world. Hearing the words He has to tell me through my pastor and my Bible Study teacher is a wonderful thing to me. He always has something new and important to tell me. Today He was saying when you tell someone you will pray for them, never forget to do just that. Don't let your assurance of praying for someone be a puff of wind. They may be depending on it and God may be waiting to hear your request for your friend or family member. Be dependable and responsible for your words of assurance to others.
A side benefit from going to church is being with friends who love me no matter what. If I mess up and say the wrong thing they don't hold it against me because they know my heart. If I miss going for a time it changes nothing with my friends. When I return it is as if I never left. I feel so loved when I am with them. There is only one explanation for the way they treat me and I know what it is. They all have the love of God inside of them that enables them to love others unconditionally. If you are not going to a church regularly and you want to be blessed big time then go to church and join a class. There is nothing else like it.
After church, my husband Zane, and I ate lunch with our daughter, son-in-law and our two teenage granddaughters. That is always a treat for us. It is the time we can catch up on what is going on with all of them. It is especially nice to live close to them and to go to the same church.
I tried not to take a nap when I got home but I finally gave in to a sweet drifting off into sleep. Well, doesn't the Bible say Sunday should be a day of rest. I'm just being a good Christian, right? Does resting today obligate me to work hard the rest of the week? I'll think about it after I go on a nice trip with my class on Monday. There's plenty of time for work later.
As for the rest of today I will enjoy hanging out with our son, Tom and blogging on the computer.
"I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord."
To have a friend, be a friend.
Lord, help me to spend time with you each day. Let me clear my mind of all distractions and focus on You so can hear what You want to say to me through your Spirit.
"When you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret"

June 2011
School is out and the weather is hot. The deer are having their fawns and vacations are beginning. Summer storms are happening almost every evening. This may be my favorite time of the year.
Verse for the week:
"This is what I command you: love one another"
(John 15:17)
Tip of the week:
When hand sewing, run the thread through a dryer sheet to keep the thread from tangling and knotting.
Annieism:
It is better to let someone else say good things about you; rather than saying them yourself.
